Modern Marketing 101: 2021 Will Be The Year of “People First”

The truth is, in marketing, people should always come first. Loyalty, good reputations, and referrals are born from a “People First” mentality. What we have learned from 2020 digital marketing trends is that businesses prepared to take care of their customers through online channels fared better than businesses trying to figure out how to survive without physical or traditional hours of operation contact. 

As business owners, we really do want to serve our customers better. It’s easy to decide on tools and methods that have worked for other businesses assuming similar results for your own business. Success in marketing requires several factors. When considering investing in new marketing methods in 2021, I want to help you with a simple way of selecting new online convenience tools.

First, ask “People First” questions:

The process of asking and answering questions like these will begin to switch your mindset from business owner to ideal customer. When marketing decisions are made while in a “People First” mindset, then the value of your products and services are much more apparent to your potential customers.

  • How will this help better serve my customers?

  • How can my marketing provide more clarity about my business to potential customers? 

When selecting a tool, two Simple Questions:

When planning your 2021 marketing strategy, ask yourself of every tool you are considering: “Who is it for?” and “What is it for?”. These two basic questions will align each marketing tool you choose to use in 2021 with a specific service or product you offer. From this point, you can drill down to see how much is worth investing in this tool based on the target audience that will be reached and the revenue that this service will potentially generate.

Priorities have changed for consumers worldwide. As business owners, it is critical to demonstrate understanding, empathy, and considerate response. Deciding on the right response does not come easy. It will take work. However, the more you work at putting people first, the easier it is to respond accordingly.
