Use This Website Planning Checklist to Improve the SEO on Your New Website
Each time we onboard a new client, we walk them through a website planning process to ensure we can meet their needs. Together we work through a series of questions to uncover all the most important details we need for the website we're creating for them. Those details also help us understand how to use SEO to drive more traffic to your website.
What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of strategically improving your website to improve your positioning in Google searches. In short, it's a strategy using language on your website that matches the terms people are most frequently searching for. The more often we use those terms on your site, the more likely you are to appear on Google searches. At Riza Marketing, we have developed techniques that routinely create excellent SEO results for our small business clients.
Website Planning Checklist:
Before we can determine which keywords will be most effective at drawing prospective clients to your website, we must begin by walking through this website planning checklist:
What does your business do? Do you know how to communicate your work effectively? Choosing highly refined SEO search terms will help draw your best customers to your website.
Determine your ideal customer. During our website planning process, we will create a persona to represent the type of customer you're trying to attract. Knowing that you want to draw in customers of a certain demographic informs how we design your site.
What do you want your customer to do? Is there a specific action you want your ideal customer to take when they visit your website? Are you hoping they call for a consultation, make an appointment, or buy a product? You can create a website that drives people toward this action when you know this.
Who are your online competitors? When you know who your competitors are, we can develop an SEO strategy that uses search terms to differentiate you in the online market.
Do you have a preferred service area? If you're trying to attract clients in a specific location, we can use those location names to attract searchers from your area.
As Benjamin Franklin once said, "by failing to plan, you are preparing to fail." Often, we see small business owners with ineffective websites because they were so anxious to create something they didn't take the time to create something that would work. When you focus on the quality of your website, you can have a beautiful site that does its job for you. Form AND function!
